NUTRITION IS NOT JUST ABOUT EATING, IT’SABOUT LEARNING TO LIVE”….

Year of establishment:Honours course in 2007 and General course in 2006. The inception of the B.Sc.Honours & General course in Food and Nutrition in 2006 with affiliation tothe University of Calcutta.  Five yearslater, i.e., in 2011, the college faced a change in affiliation to West BengalState University, Barasat (North 24 Parganas). The huge popularity of thesubject due to its practical aspect and good job prospects, the department hasbeen an important part of the institution since its establishment. The UGHonours course in Food and Nutrition is structured in an interdisciplinarymanner. It contains major sections on Physiology, Epidemiology, Biochemistry,Food chemistry, and microbiology, which are autonomous disciplines in their ownright. The department frequently organises national seminars, workshops, andextension lecture poster presentations for the development of students’ qualityfirsthand and building a research oriented mindset among the students. Thedepartment also has highly qualified teachers.

Infrastructure:Departmental room, well-equipped laboratory, and also shares all other centralinfrastructure of the college, like ICT enabled classroom, library, computerlab etc.
